Simon Marks, DHA Designs lighting designer, recently illuminated Dale Chihuly’s striking piece of art for the Halcyon Gallery in Berkeley Square. Made from over 1,500 hand-made pieces of glass, the sculpture is a perfect example of Dale Chihuly’s massing of colour that he uses in his pieces to such incredible effect. Simon worked closely with Halcyon to ensure the lighting on the piece gave it the right eye-catching qualities, without flattening the sculpture. Instead, the colours and texts of the piece are brought out to stunning effect, resulting in the beautiful image taken by Paul Brown of Demotix for Mondo*Arc magazine.
DHA have worked with Chihuly Studios in the past, including his chandelier at the V&A Museum & incredible flower installation in the lobby of the Bellagio Hotel, Las Vegas.
