John Rylands Library, Manchester
Integrating lighting and manuscripts into a unique Grade I-listed neo-Gothic masterpiece.
DHA’s challenge was delicately balancing of four distinct light sources to achieve only 50 lux. Re-introducing daylight to the gallery spaces, and adding uplighting to the vaulted ceiling was carefully controlled and enhanced by the custom case lighting. With objects ranging from the Gutenberg Bible to Shakespeare’s First Folio, DHA designed a precise yet discreet lighting solution to make these astonishing objects magically glow.
