Nelson, Navy, Nation – National Maritime Museum, London
Telling the story of the Royal Navy from 1688 to 1815 through objects, graphics and immersive lighting.
DHA with Casson Mann transformed this narrow corridor-like gallery into the experience at sea, creating dark spotlit areas in tungsten for life below deck, and introducing a series of LED lightsheet sails to transform the main space into above deck. This artificial ‘daylight’ was precisely controlled to avoid overlighting objects, which included the uniform Nelson was shot in alongside paintings and artefacts of life on deck. DHA returned in 2024 to recreate this atmospheric gallery now only using LED sources.
