Vardo Restaurant, Cadogan Estate, London

The Duke of York Square restaurant, the winner of two UK Leisure Building of the Year Awards, is a prime example of inventive thinking redefining the place’s impression and opening up the potential for hospitality events.

NEX have created a beautifully clever building in the centre of the Duke of York Square. At the outermost layer of the building’s spiral, an open staircase leads to a new roof garden above the restaurant. Concealed lighting to the steps and benches ensures a pleasant environment with minimal light pollution. The feature arches have discreet LED uplights to enhance the curves. Interior lighting is all carefully integrated into the timber slatted ceiling. The building lighting is one part of the BREEAM Excellent rating achieved
