Dove Cottage and Wordsworth Museum, Grasmere

Lighting a nationally important historic cottage and accompanying museum.

Working alongside Nissen Richards Studio and Purcell Architects, DHA created a sympathetic, discreet lighting scheme for Dove Cottage, using concealed sources within setworks and furniture to retain the 18th-century feel, alongside visible candles. The museum was doubled in size and DHA designed a careful lighting scheme balancing the daylight against the lighting restrictions of the paper-based archive. DHA / NRS also created a scrolling light sculpture wall of poetic phrases as part of the visitor journey.
